GILROY

gilroy.jpg

Gilroy explored the construction of racial ‘otherness’ within news reportage of the 1970s, arguing that criminalised representations of black males  stigmatised the immigrant community.

Gilroy, in the 1990s, shifted his attention to the construction of English identity, arguing that a postcolonial melancholia  taints the media's  portrayal of contemporary Britain.
